2017 GV Rural Health Careers Workshop

The GV Rural Health Careers Workshop was held on Thursday, 1st June 2017 at the University of Melbourne, Department of Rural Health and GV Health in Shepparton.

Approximately 130 students from Year 9 and Year 10, who are interested in pursuing a career in health, represented more than 19 schools from throughout the Goulburn Valley region. The Careers Workshop provides students with an interactive opportunity to discover more about the range of career options available in the health sector, talk to health experts and higher education leaders about career pathways, undertake practical workshops and explore study options.

The day is the result of a collaborative partnership between the University of Melbourne, GV Health - Department of Rural Health, GV Health, City of Greater Shepparton, La Trobe University, GOTAFE, State Government, CVGT, Goulburn Murray LLEN and Rumbalara.

The workshop will help students navigate the various pathway options from school through to traineeships, TAFE or University.

Ms Anne Thewlis, University of Melbourne Clinical Skills Manager coordinated a team of staff and students a series interactive medical station which proved to be an extremely positive experience amongst the high school students.
