Member
Criteria
1. Have made a substantial and valued contribution to the University’s medical education programs over a significant period of time
Indicators
- Frequent delivery of clinical teaching activities including topic-based tutorials and teaching with patients
- Regular participation in clinical examinations
- Honorary appointment with Melbourne Medical School
- Contribution sustained for a period of five or more years;
2. Are recognised as excellent, dedicated, committed and passionate educators;
Indicators
- High student satisfaction ratings as evidenced by evaluations or nomination for teaching awards
- Evidence of high peer regard as evidenced by referee reports or similar
- Involvement with learners at multiple levels & in differing contexts
- Participation in or contribution to clinical teacher training activities
- Level of contribution beyond any paid appointment with the University
3. Serve as role models for all clinicians who teach;
Indicators
- Well-established mentoring & supervision relationships
- Frequent requests for advice and support from other clinicians
- Educational leadership position or acknowledged leadership qualities
- Involvement in a collegial network of clinical teachers
- Promotion of collaborative practice - inter-professional education to inter-professional practice
4. Provide advice to the School on matters relating to clinical teaching, student assessment and program evaluation;
Indicators
- Existing connection to clinical school or department
- Contribution to local curriculum development and review activities including evaluation/research relating to medical student learning and teaching
- Key role in informing the School about workforce demands, issues and patterns to enable feedback into curriculum design
Act as conduit between Melbourne Medical School and clinical colleagues
Fellow
Criteria
- Those inducted to Fellowship of the Melbourne Medical School’s Academy of Clinical Teachers have demonstrated the above indicators over a sustained period of ten or more years and with exemplary leadership.
