Professor Cheryl Jones – commencement
The Department of Paediatrics warmly welcome Professor Cheryl Jones, to the role of Stevenson Professor of Paediatrics and Head of Department.
Professor Jones commenced on 3 March 2017 and brings to the department her extensive experience in executive administration, strategic leadership and clinical governance in the higher education, research and health sectors. Until March 2017 she was Deputy Dean of Sydney Medical School (SMS), University of Sydney, a Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health, a Senior Academic Clinician/Specialist in paediatric infectious diseases at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. In this role Professor Jones had shared oversight of the research, medical education and clinical dealings of SMS, one of the top medical schools in the country.
Professor Jones is the current president of the Australian Society for Infectious Diseases and serves on numerous boards and statutory committees; she is recognised internationally as a leader in childhood infectious diseases research and clinical care and holds, or has held, key national and institutional leadership roles across the full spectrum of health and medical education-undergraduate coursework, postgraduate research and professional education and is an internationally recognised research leader in childhood infectious diseases.
