Postgraduate Coursework Programs

Leading the way in medical training

Our strength in research is based on our outstanding graduates and world leading researchers. You will join a diverse community of passionate, highly motivated health professionals, and become part of an extensive international alumni network. Our alumni include Nobel Laureates Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet (1960) and Sir John Eccles (1963). Current academic staff include Professor Peter Doherty (1996 Nobel Prize in Medicine), who discovered how the immune system recognises virus-infected cells.

As a student in the Melbourne Medical School you will learn from some of the best medical researchers and educators in Australia. You will access innovative technology that will enhance your learning experience, and be supported by teams of caring and committed academic and professional staff in all departments of the school. You will experience a rich community learning environment in the clinical schools and departments located in our numerous affiliated hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne and rural Victoria. As well as the facilities available to students through the University, the Melbourne Medical School has a dedicated Academic Mentor to provide support to students in what can be a challenging learning journey.
