New Rainbow Mob health resource

The Wurru Wurru Health Unit (WWHU) in the Department of Medical Education have been working closely with the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) to create the first LGBTQIASB+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Rainbow Mob) health resource for health professionals and medical students in Victoria.

Rainbow Mob Health Training

This resource provides training on the intersection of LGBTQIASB+ health and First Nations health inclusive of culturally specific terms such as sistgirl and brothaboy. The WWHU and VACCHO were able to make this project possible through successful grant funding from the Australian Centre at the University of Melbourne and the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network.

This work has recently been accepted to present at the International Pacific Region Indigenous Doctors Congress (PRIDoC) conference. Dr Ngaree Blow from the WWHU and VACCHO representations will be heading to Tarntanya (Adelaide) on Kaurna Country to present in early December this year.

You can hear more about it on a recent episode of the conversation hour on ABC Radio.
