Professor Joan Said awarded Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund funding
Professor Joanne Said from the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health has received a grant to progress a pilot trial aimed at establishing the effectiveness of an off-the-shelf antibiotic sometimes prescribed to women who are at increased risk of preterm birth.

The team at Western Health, led by Professor Joanne Said, will undertake a trial that aims to reduce the risks of preterm birth by looking at the effectiveness of antibiotics for Amniotic Fluid Sludge (AFS).
It is one of ten successful projects supported by the Allan Labor Government’s Medical Research Acceleration Fund.
