Staff Profile - Dr David Lane

Dr David Lane is the Research Manager of the Melbourne Medical School.

David re-joined the School in 2023, having previously worked in the School prior to the covid pandemic. He works with the School’s Research Director, Christobel Saunders, and a team of academic and professional staff to develop a range of research and research training support initiatives.

Of note this year, the team has been working on two important projects. Coordinated across the Faculty, the No-Bell Prize competition offers a unique opportunity for graduate researchers to practice communicating their research in a succinct and engaging way using simple, jargon-free language. For those past PhD completion, the School’s inaugural Early and Mid-Career Mentoring Program has just launched and is providing a platform for 42 mentees to receive guidance and advice from mentors outside of their own department on topics such as career development, leadership, and building networks.

David is eager to explore research data in different ways to inform decision-making around future support initiatives and to identify suitable researchers and research groups for emerging opportunities, including major funding schemes.
