$30 million commitment to the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD)

Prime Minister Scott Morrison recently announced a $30 million Federal Government funding commitment to the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD). The University of Melbourne is one of nine partners involved in this landmark initiative.

The ACMD will unite leading clinicians, scientists and students in a unique medicine, engineering, science and industry collaboration to transform ground-breaking biomedical research and technologies into new medical solutions.

Professor Mark Cook Director of the Graeme Clark Institute, and Sir John Eccles Chair of Medicine, Department of Medicine and Radiology, Melbourne Medical School said, "There are very few of these sorts of arrangements like this in the world where you've actually got the bio-engineering facility in a clinical site.''
