In this profile, Darren talks about changing the landscape of academia by emphasising the role of commercialisation today's academic world. He also discusses the commercial success of Fibrotech, a biotech research company Darren founded in 2006, and plans for its successor OccuRx.

Darren leads the Biomedical Translational Research Group: Developing Therapies for Cardiovascular Disease in the Department of Medicine and Radiology (St Vincent's Hospital node). He is also Associate Dean (Innovation and Commercialisation), Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
