Professor Elizabeth Molloy from the Department of Medical Education was awarded the Hamilton Russell Medal and Lecture for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons 2021 Annual Scientific Congress.

The keynote lecture, founded in 1935 by the College, is in honour of Robert Hamilton Russell (1860-1933), one of the founders of the College and its first censor-in-chief. Elizabeth’s keynote presentation was on ‘The role of intellectual candour in disrupting educational rituals in the operating theatre’.  Elizabeth challenged participants to consider what can be gained, and lost, through educators making themselves vulnerable through emergent, and ‘unvarnished’ conversations with learners.
