Celebrating this year's MMS scholarship recipients

The Melbourne Medical School was pleased to welcome student scholarship recipients and our valued donors who support the Melbourne Medical School Scholarship Fund to our annual Scholarship Celebratory Dinner, held last month at University House.

The students and Professor Trumble are seated in chairs, on a slightly raised stage in front of dining tables. There are a couple of floral arrangements and white cloth placed on the tables. Seated at the tables are various guests on the evening. Both the students and the guests are wearing formal attire.

The sit-down dinner provided a wonderful opportunity for our scholarship recipients and donors to network face-to-face for the first time since 2019, enabling valuable professional connections and mentorship opportunities for our students.

Guests listened to an impact panel discussion chaired by Professor Steve Trumble, Head of the Department of Medical Education, and featured scholarship recipients Planning Saw, Sophie Roberts and Liam Fernando-Canavan.

The students shared how their scholarships provide them with the much needed time and energy to focus on their studies and allow them to pursue extra-curricular activities – demonstrating to our donors first-hand the impact of their generosity.

The Melbourne Medical School Scholarship Fund was established in 2012 to support medical students to succeed in their studies regardless of their personal circumstances. This year, the program has awarded 83 scholarships to 60 students across the Doctor of Medicine program.

We wish to thank our donors for their outstanding generosity and ongoing support for the program. We look forward to welcoming them again next year.
