Mobile Learning Unit wins contracts with SA Health

The Mobile Learning Unit (MLU), Department of Surgery, has been successful in two contracts with SA Health. In partnership with the Department of Nursing, the MLU will support 1,600 nurses and midwives to complete the Transition to Critical Care Nursing course. The MLU, in collaboration with the School of Health Sciences, the School of Psychology and leadership experts, will also roll out the new Supporting Healthcare Workers Through COVID course to 15,000 nurses and midwives.

In the first quarter of 2022, the MLU has developed and delivered eight Dean’s pilot Radical Flipped classroom courses that are being rerun due to successful uptake.

The MLU is conducting an Ultrasound Guided Peripheral Vein Access (UGPVA) simulation course across all the medical school campuses led by Dr David Canty. This is the first time that practical Ultrasound teaching has been incorporated into the Melbourne Medical School curriculum. This will introduce students to the rapidly emerging field of point of care ultrasound use and help to upskill the MD4s to be more “intern-ready” when it comes to those difficult IV cannulations.
