The Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinical School Awards and Family Night

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Clinical School Awards and Family Night was held in early February to honour the 2016 prize winners. Many prizes are awarded on this night, but the most recently established prize is the RMH Clinical School Long Case Prize.

Winners for 2016: Alexander Strathmore and Rachel Brown.

This prize was established in 2014 when Associate Professor Peter Morley – a graduate of the University of Melbourne, current Director of Medical Education at the RMH Clinical School and Intensive Care Specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital – felt the need to reward those students who achieve outstanding results in the presentation of a long case. The skill of presenting a long case demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate and interact with real patients while developing the aptitude of clinical reasoning.

The Long Case Prize was awarded to the second year medical student from the RMH Clinical School who achieves the highest aggregate score based on three long case presentation assessments conducted throughout the year.

Honourable nominees receive a certificate in recognition of outstanding achievement in this assessment task.

Honourable Mentions: Andrea Zhu, Angus Hughes, Krishnan Ravindran, Honey Oo
