Project Details
While dating during adolescence is a healthy, expected stage of development, dating violence is a serious, prevalent and important public health concern. Despite the well-known burdens on individuals, families and societies, there is little information and help available for dating violence victims in Australia.
This qualitative study seeks to explore young women's definitions of dating, their thoughts on help-seeking for dating violence and how young women perceive the role of technology in dating and relationships, through narrative interviews with 16-25 year old Australian women.
Funded by the YAWCRC and the Windermere Foundation, this study will contribute to understanding dating violence and help-seeking among Australian young women with the view of developing an understanding of the ways Australian young women perceive and identify difficult dating relationships and help seeking including any role technology might play.
