Renal Hybrid-Closed Loop Study

Project Details

Glycemic control in patients living with both advanced renal disease and diabetes has traditionally proven to be difficult for both the patient and their care providers. With the rapid development of technologies to aid those living with diabetes, there is a great potential to utilize these technologies to benefit this cohort.

In order to remedy this, we are conducting a world first multi-site trial utilizing next generation hybrid closed loop insulin pump therapy(artificial pancreas) with the Medtronic MiniMed 780G in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes with advanced renal disease including those on haemo- and peritoneal dialysis. This is then compared and contrasted against the usual care these patients are provided with the goal of alleviating the mental, emotional and psychical burdens of their treatment.
