The Department fosters research across the wide range of clinical services at Austin Health, but has particular strengths in the somatoform disorders, psychopharmacology and perinatal psychiatry.
Psychiatric research at Austin Health covers the full range of clinical conditions seen here, with particular emphases on neuropsychiatry, eating disorders and PTSD. Investigative specialisation has focussed on the neuroimaging modalities – PET, SPECT and MRI - that are located here, as well as our strengths in psychopharmacology.

The Neuropsychiatry of Androgen Deprivation

Androgen Deprivation Therapy for Prostate Cancer has been associated with both cognitive and affective sequelae. Our group seeks to determine the extent of these using a combination of neuroimaging and neuropsychology, and to explore the impact of novel therapies on these.
