Baker Department 2023 PhD Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2023 round of Baker Department of Cardiometabolic Health top-up PhD Scholarships!

Congratulations to Pukjera Rungreang and Yiyu (Zoe) Zhang, recipients of the 2023 round of Baker Department of Cardiometabolic Health top-up PhD Scholarships.

Pukjera Rungreang

I am very grateful to be awarded the Cardiometabolic Health Scholarships 2023. This scholarship acknowledges my academic achievements and inspires me to advance my understanding and research skills in the dysregulation of lipid metabolism associated with cardiovascular diseases. I will start my PhD at the Metabolomics Laboratory under Professor Peter Meikle’s supervision.

I am very excited about my project and future endeavours in research. With the support of this scholarship, I will investigate how the modulations of plasmalogen through nanoparticle technology could be a therapeutic benefit in cardiovascular disease.

I want to also thanks my parents, family, and others who have helped me along my journey and continue to support me as always.

Yiyu (Zoe) Zhang

It is my honour and pleasure to be awarded the Baker Cardiometabolic Health Scholarship in 2023. I believe that this scholarship not only acknowledges my academic achievements but also supports me in committing more time and energy to my PhD study.

With this scholarship, I hope to further my interest in understanding how specific lipid species affect platelet production and the resulting impact on health and disease.
