Primary Breathe Australia – A new approach to managing breathlessness in primary care
Monash University and The University of Melbourne are excited to collaborate on the design and delivery of Primary Breathe Australia – a targeted intervention to improve chronic breathlessness in the community.
The Primary Breathe Australia study is a two-year randomised controlled trial that will begin in 2025 across primary care sites in metropolitan and regional Victoria. In this trial patients with chronic lung diseases and persisting breathlessness will either be offered usual care or a nurse-led breathlessness education and support program (focusing on non-drug strategies) over 2-3 visits.
We are now seeking expressions of interest from primary care practices that may be interested in becoming trial sites. In particular we would like GPs and nurses from interested primary care practices to participate in short (< 1hour) paid research interviews to help co-design the nurse-led breathlessness program to ensure it is fit-to-purpose.
Interviews will be conducted over zoom at a time of your choosing. Participants will receive a $100 gift card per interview in recognition of their contribution. Sites that go on to participate in the full trial will receive further honorariums for their participation.
