GP/PhD Candidate Brent Venning presented the importance of polygenic risk scores in early cancer detection at the upcoming GP22 Conference on Nov 25-27

Clinical trials are actively investigating how PRS guided screening compares to conventional screening for different cancer types. When applied to cancer screening, PRSs may impact the age at which someone commences screening, the intervals between screenings and the type of test used.

Brent presented at the GP22 conference, discussing what PRSs are, why they might be relevant to future general practice, and revealed the results of a recent survey on public preferences for PRS testing.
