Making primary health care more accessible for students most in need.

""

Associate Professor Lena Sanci is the expert advisor to the Victorian Government on the Doctors in Secondary Schools Project. She was interviewed on the Life Matters program on Radio National on 27 January 2017 about the initiative, which will roll out primary care services into 100 disadvantaged secondary schools during 2017/18.

The aims of the program are to make comprehensive primary care, including preventive health care and medical advice, free and accessible for young people thereby reducing unmet health care needs. General practitioners (GPs) with an interest in working with young people will undertake special training to work onsite up to one day per week at a local school.

Any GPs interested in learning more about the program can contact Lena on l.sanci@unimelb.edu.au.
