Associate Professor Jo-Anne Manski-Nankervis

Associate Professor Jo-Anne Manski-Nankervis has received a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) award for the development of technology to facilitate detection and management of chronic disease.

The $749,981 grant is one of 12 new projects that has received funding from the Federal Government as part of a $9.2million initiative to support Australian health and medical research projects.

The project, titled 'Future Health Today and TorchRecruit: Changing the course of chronic disease’ involves the development of an innovative software which applies algorithms to electronic medical records in general practices to optimise clinical care and facilitate clinical trials.

The funding is provided through the Targeted Translation Research Accelerator (TTRA) program which was set up to improve the lives of patients with chronic conditions.

As an academic general practitioner (GP) at Melbourne Medical School, Associate Professor Manski-Nankervis’ research focuses on developing and implementing technology to inform decision making in general practice.
