Triple success from PhD student Jonathan Kaufman

Congratulations to DGP PhD student Jonathan Kaufman who has received three research awards in two months!

In November Jonathan received a Sustainable Healthcare Award from Bond University for his PhD research: “Effective and cost-effective investigation of urinary tract infections in young children”. Jonathan’s PhD is supervised by Prof Lena Sanci and Prof Meredith Temple-Smith.

In December Jonathan received the 2019 Best PhD Publication Award from the Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand (HSRAANZ), for his health economic analysis “Liquid Gold: the cost-effectiveness of urine sample collection methods for young pre-continent children”, published in Archives of Disease of Childhood. The health economic evaluation was supervised by A/Prof Kim Dalziel from the School of Population Health.

Jonathan also won the Peoples Choice Award in the 3 Minute Thesis competition at the HSRAANZ Research Conference in Auckland.
