A Practical Guide for Clinical Educators: book launch
Join us in congratulating the DME’s Clare Delany and Liz Molloy on their latest book. Their practical guide for clinical teachers launched at August’s Research Symposium.
The Department of Medical Education’s Professor Elizabeth Molloy and Associate Professor Clare Delany launched their new book, Learning and Teaching in Clinical Contexts: A Practical Guide at the recent DME Research Symposium. Featuring the perspectives of more than 40 leading international researchers, theorists and practitioners in clinical education, Learning and Teaching in Clinical Contexts: A Practical Guide provides a bridge between the theoretical aspects of clinical education and the delivery of practical teaching strategies.
The book is divided into four sections: preparing learners for learning in health workplaces; making use of specific features of the clinical learning environments; approaches to assessment in the workplace; and developing and nurturing clinical educator identity. The contributors are renowned international and national experts in health professions education. A unique feature of the book is the use of case studies or stories of typical challenges encountered by both learners and educators in clinical placement settings. The cases are used to bring to life and illustrate education theory and practice.
