Graduation Mass for St Vincent’s Clinical School MD students

St Vincent's Graduation Mass 2018

St Vincent’s Clinical School held their annual graduation mass on Wednesday 5 December. This is the first time we celebrated mass at the Clinical School and we were all pleased with the transformation of the clinical school. The mass has been held since the 1960’s as a hospital acknowledgement of the importance of the Clinical School and the University of Melbourne to the hospital.

Father Zaher Mhanna led a wonderful celebration and we were pleased to hear our graduate Dr Michael Li perform as part of the mass proceedings and also as our mass pianist. Following mass we presented our student and teacher awards. We wish to congratulate Dr Antony Winkel as our Paul Kitchen Junior Teacher of the Year award and Dr Hang Quach as our Stephen Rosen Teacher of the Year award. This is the second year in the row that Dr Hang Quach has won teacher of the year award. Hang exemplifies the dedication of our senior staff who contribute much to our programs. At the conclusion of prizes, the hospital hosted the medical students, family and friends to drinks at the Clinical School. A special acknowledgment to Dr Tanya Lee for assisting with mass proceedings and also a special mention to Dr Jonathan Quinn who becomes a fourth generation medical graduate of the Melbourne Medical School and St Vincent’s Clinical School. His grandfather was in attendance at mass and enjoyed walking around the hospital and reflecting on his time as a medical student 65 years on.
