Diagnose cancer
Overview
In this topic, students are taught through the lens of patient stories and the tumour types they are afflicted with. Students will learn the indications, mechanisms, and utility of each diagnostic tool used in cancer diagnosis. Students will also learn about the best practice diagnostic pathways that exist to facilitate accurate, efficient and cost-effective cancer diagnostics.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the diagnostic approaches, tests and their interpretation in the context of cancer diagnosis.
- Apply knowledge of cancer diagnostics to the medical practitioner’s role in assessing and diagnosing cancers in their everyday clinical practice.
- Discuss the importance of raising cancer awareness and the impact of screening and early cancer detection.
- Consistently display professional behaviours.
Dates and Times
All MD Discovery 2 topics will be held during a 4-week block to be determined based on topic selection and clinical school availability.
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning activities for topics include a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online materials, work integrated activities and independent learning.
