The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is responsible for teaching Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Paediatrics, to undergraduate medical students.

ObsGyn Executive Committee
The Department of O&G Executive Committee has oversight of all Department activities. It serves as a forum for high level decision-making and advice to the Head of Department and Deputy Heads of Department on a range of strategic issues to support the Department’s development, performance and optimal use of resources.

The Elephant Circle
The Dept of O&G Elephant Circle is established as a support group to whom department staff and students can go to for guidance about how to deal with challenges in workplace behaviours that they may witness or be subject to.

History
The origins of the University of Melbourne Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology can be traced back to 1924, when the Victorian Branch of the British Medical Association appointed a committee under the leadership of Dr J W Dunbar Hooper "to enquire into the condition of midwifery work" in Victoria.
