Emerging Researcher Prize at ASPOG

Anna Li and Emily Bellis were jointly awarded the ‘Emerging Researcher Prize’ at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ASPOG), in August 2019.

Anna and Emily both completed their honours projects in 2018 with the Psychosocial Health and Wellbeing Research Unit, under the supervision of Drs Michelle Peate, Jennifer Marino, Yasmin Jayasinghe and Jane Girling. Both worked on the Menstrual Needs Study, investigating the unmet needs and experiences of adolescent girls with heavy menstrual bleeding and pain, and the unmet needs of their parents. Anna’s research focused primarily on the adolescents, while Emily focused on their parents needs and experiences. This research was presented at the 2019 ASPOG Conference, “Across the Lifecyle”, held at the Royal Women’s Hospital on 1-3 August 2019. Anna and Emily were jointly awarded the ‘Emerging Researcher Prize’ for their presentations. The ‘Emerging Researcher Prize’ is for researchers who have recently completed an honours or master’s degree.

Anna is currently completing a Doctor of Medicine at The University of Melbourne.

Emily is currently completing a Doctor of Medicine at Deakin University.
