Prognosis study at Royal Womens’ Hospital

""

The Pregnancy Research Centre at the Royal Women's Hospital has been the leading Australian centre involved in the PROGNOSIS study, the results of which were published in The New England Journal Of Medicine (the highest impact clinical journal in the world) earlier this year. In terms of translation of research findings into clinical practice, we are now using this test at the hospital to improve our care of pregnant women with suspected preeclampsia, with a particular focus on our Pregnancy Day Care Service, which manages many of our cases with a provisional diagnosis of preeclampsia. The test will also have a valuable role in the assessment of another important, related pregnancy problem, fetal growth restriction. This test helps refine diagnostic evaluation and streamline clinical management in maternity care services. It is a major step forward.
