Strategic Grants for Outstanding Women

Congratulations to Associate Professor Natalie Hannan, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Melbourne Medical School, Mercy Hospital for Women, Northern Hospital & Dr Yasmin Jayasinghe Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Melbourne Medical School, Royal Women’s Hospital, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute who were both recipients of the 2019 Melbourne Medical School Strategic Grants for Outstanding Women.

The inaugural round of the Melbourne Medical School’s Strategic Grants for Outstanding Women has drawn to a close. Announced on International Women’s Day and reinforcing the theme of #BalanceforBetter, the scheme has been designed to assist talented female academics to negotiate the challenges they face in building their careers with a view to facilitating their progression to senior academic positions.

The School received an unprecedented number of excellent applications from a diverse range of outstanding women. A rigorous assessment process was undertaken to complete the difficult task of selecting eight successful applicants from such an extensive and exceptional pool of candidates.
