The Royal Women’s Hospital Research Report 2020

On the 4th of August 2021 the Royal Women’s Hospital launched its 2020 Research Report via an online webinar.

Each year, the Women’s produces a research report to highlight some of the examples of innovation and translation of research happening at the hospital to improve healthcare outcomes.

In 2020, the Women’s 10 research centres were collectively awarded more than $27 million in competitive grants, with 6 of those research centres affiliated with the University of Melbourne, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The research centres affiliated with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology were awarded a collective total of $22.3 million in competitive grants, our researchers also conducted 49 clinical trials and published 180 peer-reviewed medical papers.

The impact from the work of these researchers goes far beyond the patients at the Women’s, oftentimes contributing to new and improved treatments and outcomes across the State, the nation and even the world.
