Congratulations to The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology researchers A/Prof Joanne Said, Dr Wei Zhou & Dr Roxanne Hastie who are the recipients of 2020 Trevor B Kilvington Bequest for research into preeclampsia.

A/Prof Joanne Said is the Head of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sunshine Hospital and was granted the award for her project “Western Health survey of heArT failure Risk after pregnancy hypertension (WHAT RISK).”

Dr Wei Zhou is a Research Fellow in Reproductive Biology at Royal Women’s Hospital and was granted the award for his project, “Explore non-invasive biomarkers for the prediction of late-onset preeclampsia.”

Dr Roxanne Hastie is a NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow in Translational Obstetrics at the Mercy Hospital for Women and was granted the award for her project “A peptide therapeutic for preeclampsia: a new age treatment for an age-old disease.”

As a result of a generous bequest to the University, the ‘Trevor Basil Kilvington Bequest’ the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is able to offer grants to researchers in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology to conduct research into preeclampsia (as per the trust terms, for research “into the still unsolved problems associated with pregnancy particularly the causes of hypertension eclampsia and renal dysfunction”).
