Congratulations to Sunhild Hartmann, Dr Madhura Jayasingam, Dr Sarah Lensen & Dr Ishara Atukorala were all awarded the 2024 Ackman Travelling Scholarships Round 2.

Congratulations to Sunhild Hartmann, Dr Madhura Jayasingam, Dr Sarah Lensen & Dr Ishara Atukorala were all awarded the 2024 Ackman Travelling Scholarships Round 2.
Sunhild Hartmann will present "Activin A signaling in Trophoblast differentiation and Metabolism" at the Japanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (JSOG) Meeting in May 2025 in Okayama, Japan .
Dr Madhura Jayasingam developed the first centile charts for follicle density in ovaries of children adolescents and young adults. The work was selected within the top 4 abstracts submitted to the global Oncofertility Consortium Conference in Detroit, USA, in November 11-13, 2024. Dr Jayasingam received a winner’s award for this work "Ovarian follicle density model in Australian child, adolescent, and young adult cancer cohort". Dr Jayasingam presented two posters at the International Society for Fertility Preservation Biennial Conference in Tokyo, Japan, November 15-17, 2024 . The posters focused on the Follicle density model and abnormal ovarian follicles.
Dr Sarah Lensen will attend the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) annual meeting in Paris, France, from 29 June – 2 July 2025. This is one of two major infertility and IVF global conferences, attended by >10,000 delegates. Dr Lensen will present a new IVF patient website called ‘Evidence-based IVF’ which provides evidence-based information about IVF add-ons. ESHRE will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the website and seek collaboration to expand to overseas settings, enabling further reach and health impact of this new resource. Dr Lensen will also hold a meeting of the International IVF Add-ons Group, which she currently chairs and visit the HFEA in London UK.
Dr Ishara Atukorala will attend the annual meeting of the Society for Reproductive Investigation, scheduled for March 25–29 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina and has submitted two abstracts summarizing her recent work on amniotic fluid extracellular vesicles
As a result of a generous bequest to the University of Melbourne, the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is able to offer research travel awards, known as The Henry and Rachael Ackman Travelling Scholarships, to eligible early career researchers and research higher degree students from the Department of Paediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health.
The late Emanuel Percy Ackman, bequeathed to the University in 1965, the income of his residuary estate in perpetuity 'in the foundation of Travelling Scholarships in Medicine and Architecture’ to be known as ‘The Henry and Rachael Ackman Travelling Scholarships’ and in the foundation of Lectures to be known as ‘The Minnie Ackman Lectures’.
