Melbourne Excellence Awards 2025

Congratulations to Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health Graduate Research Student Dorcas Serwaa a committee member in the UoM African Students Outreach Program who were awarded in the 2025 University of Melbourne Excellence Awards for Global, Place and Community Excellence, Award for Excellence in Building Student Connection and Belonging.
Dorcas Serwaa is also the Vice President of The African Health and Wellbeing Club (AHWC) at the University of Melbourne. The AHWC were recently awarded the 2025 Peter McPhee Community Impact Grant for their project titled “The Hidden Impact of UV: A Community Screening Initiative for Skin and Eye Health.” This student-led initiative will provide free, culturally appropriate skin and eye screenings for African and underserved communities, promoting health equity and early detection.
