NHMRC 2025 Ideas Grant

Congratulations to Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Newborn Health researchers Prof Evdokia Dimitriadis, Dr Jacqueline Donoghue and Head of Department Prof Sue Walker, who are all recipients of the NHMRC 2025 Ideas Grant.

NHMRC received 2261 applications for the 2024 Ideas Grant and just 223 grants or 10.1% were awarded. Thirty-six University of Melbourne researchers have had their projects funded through the  National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas Grants scheme in 2024, with over $42 million funding University of Melbourne research.

Prof Sue Walker was awarded the Ideas Grant for the project "Novel methods to identify women at risk of preeclampsia late in pregnancy"

Prof Evdokia Dimitriadis was awarded for the Ideas Grant for the project "A new way to see endometrial receptivity defects and implantation failure."

Dr Jacqueline Donoghue was awarded the Ideas Grant for the project “Molecular Mechanisms of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding”.

The objective of the Ideas Grant scheme is to support innovative research projects addressing a spceific question(s).
The expected outcomes of the scheme are:
*innovative and creative research
*funding of researchers at all career stages
*funding any area of health and medical research from discovery to implementation.
