Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health researcher Dr Sarah Lensen has been awarded a NHMRC 2024 Partnership Projects grant for their project ‘Promoting evidence-informed decisions about IVF add-ons through co-design, implementation, and evaluation of a new website’.
IVF ‘add-ons’ are optional extras that can be included on top of standard IVF treatment. However, most add-ons lack proven benefits or safety, and online information often exaggerates their effectiveness.
Dr. Lensen’s project aims to create a website that provides accurate evidence-based information about IVF add-ons that will be trusted by IVF patients and doctors. This website is being co-designed by IVF patients and doctors, with experts reviewing the scientific evidence to ensure reliability.
The Partnership Project is being led by Dr Sarah Lensen and University of Melbourne in partnership with:
- Monash IVF
- Genea IVF
- Monash Health
- Royal Women’s Hospital
- Today Design
- Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand
- Cochrane collaboration
- Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (UK)
