Dr William Garvey wins Churchill Fellowship

Dr William Garvey

Congratulations to Dr Billy Garvey who has recently been awarded a Churchill Fellowship for his project entitled “To improve child health and development using technology to support evidence-based parenting practice” Churchill Fellowships, named in honour of Sir Winston Churchill, recognise people with passion and drive, providing an unrivalled opportunity and freedom for people to experience world’s best practice on issues that matter to Australian communities.

Dr Garvey will be visiting the USA, UK and Sweden to develop the potential which exists in using technology to better support parents regarding the health, development and well-being of their children. Digital strategies have the potential to overcome the current challenges many families face in accessing information to ensure their children reach their full potential. The Churchill Fellowship will provide an incredible opportunity to better understand how to use such technology to open up new pathways of communication and collaborationto help all children thrive.

Dr Garvey is Senior Fellow for the Centre for Community Child Health at the Royal Children's Hospital and holds an Honorary appointment in Department of Paediatrics.
