Farewell and Thank You to Helen Dedman

After a stellar career spanning thirty years at the University of Melbourne it is with mixed emotions that the Melbourne Medical School announces the retirement of Helen Dedman this month.

School Manager, Simon Hall says, ‘While we wish Helen the very best for her retirement there are many across the School, myself included, who will miss her considered advice and wealth of knowledge about the University and the Melbourne Medical School in particular.’

Helen commenced at the University of Melbourne in 1990 in the Department of Botany before moving to the Melbourne Medical School in 1995 in the position of Laboratory Manager. She has held a variety of positions across a number of the School’s sites including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and the former Austin Academic Centre located at Austin Health, Heidelberg.

In 2015 Helen was appointed Campus Relationship Manager for the Royal Children’s Hospital site and Department Manager, Paediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

She is currently Department Manager of the Department of Paediatrics and Deputy School Manager, Melbourne Medical School.

Head of the Melbourne Medical School, Professor John Prins says, ‘Helen’s length of service to the University demonstrates an impressive level of dedication and commitment. We thank Helen for her many contributions and hope she is now able to enjoy some well-deserved leisure time.’

We look forward to celebrating Helen’s achievements at a range of School events this month before her departure prior to Christmas.

Please join with us in thanking Helen by sending her a quick note of congratulations and best wishes for her retirement.
