International Campus Review
An international review of the Melbourne Children’s Campus took place between 28-30 March 2017, led by Professor Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer, UK. Panel members include Professor Ros Smyth, Director, UCK Institute of Child Health, UK, Professor Fiona Stanley AC, Patron, Telethon Kids Institute and Distinguished Research Professor University of Western Australia, Professor Hugh O’Brodovich, Former Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Adalyn Jay Physician in Chief at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (USA) and Professor Jeff Whitsett MD, Chief of the Section of Neonatology, Perinatal and Pulmonary Biology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Centre (USA).
The principal purpose of the review has been to consider the national and international standing of Melbourne Children’s, its contribution to child and adolescent health and how we can enhance our contribution.
This will be followed up with a formal report providing strategic advice and recommendations in the coming months as to how the Melbourne Children’s might more firmly establish itself as a world-leading campus for advancing child and adolescent health.
Melbourne Children’s refers to The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, supported by The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Department of Paediatrics who hosted this review, would like to extend its appreciation to all staff across the campus – those who presented to the panel and others who were involved in the planning and execution of the review. The review finished with the presentation of an initial feedback forum for all campus staff which highlighted the many strengths of the campus and strategic opportunities or future growth.
