Leading a Learning Health System Program 2025

The Department of Paediatrics, in collaboration with Melbourne Children's Global Health, recently hosted an inspiring group of paediatric leaders from Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Fiji, and Vanuatu as part of the Leading a Learning Health System (LLHS) Program.

The Program, which began in 2023, aims to develop leadership capacity for Learning Health Systems in the Indo-Pacific region, resulting in stronger healthcare leaders and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. Some alumni from the 2023-2024 cohort returned as teaching faculty this year, sharing their experiences and expertise with the latest cohort.

This peer-to-peer teaching embodies the program's collaborative and growth-oriented philosophy.

To see the impact of the LLHS Program, one of the Vanuatu participants shared this powerful reflection as he returned home from a week in Melbourne:

"Before boarding the plane, I questioned, ‘The course is about leadership, but will it truly make me a leader?’ After experiencing the week, I can confidently say, ‘I am both honored and privileged to have attended this course.’ It is absolutely worth every dime invested.”
