Dr Tamsyn Van Rheenen wins DBSA Klerman Award

Dr Tamsyn Van Rheenen has been selected as the recipient of the Klerman Young Investigator Award from the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA).

The Gerald L. Klerman Award is the highest honour DBSA gives to members of the scientific community. Presented each year, this award recognises researchers whose work advances knowledge of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of depression and bipolar disorder.

Dr. Van Rheenen is a National Health and Medical Research Council Fellow, Dame Kate Campbell Fellow, and Head of the Mood-Psychosis Spectrum lab at the Melbourne Neuropsychiatry Centre, University of Melbourne. Her research program aims to understand the nature and mechanisms of severe psychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on bipolar disorder. Her research is contributing new knowledge that will facilitate the development of intervention strategies targeted at cognition in bipolar disorder specifically.

Dr Van Rheenen was presented the award at the National Network of Depression Centers Conference Awards Ceremony in September. She is the first Australian Researcher to receive the award in its 32-year history.
