Rural Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine - Applications Now Open

As part of the University of Melbourne’s commitment to rural health, the Melbourne Medical School in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences offers a Rural Pathway option within the Doctor of Medicine.

This pathway is for students from a rural background who are committed to undertaking their medical education  wholly in rural setting and becoming a part of rural and regional Australia's medical workforce.

Applications for the 2023 intake are now open until 31 May 2022.

What the program includes

  • Ability for students from rural and regional areas to complete their studies entirely in Shepparton to become a doctor
  • Study at #1 ranked university in Australia for health and #14 ranked in the world for clinical, pre-clinical and health education*
  • New teaching facilities and accommodation to live, work and study locally
