Melbourne Medical School's new Strategic Plan

Read Strategic Plan

I am delighted to share the final version of Advancing Medicinethe new strategic plan for the Melbourne Medical School with you.

On the back of the strategic work completed in 2023 on the School's purpose and vision, we have spent a number of months in 2024 consulting with various stakeholders to firstly shape and then refine a new strategic plan.

Advancing Medicine represents a pivotal moment for our School, building on our core values, strategic priorities, purpose and vision, while allowing us to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world.

This strategic plan represents the connection of the Faculty’s Advancing Health 2030 priorities and demonstrates how these elements come together to deliver on the School’s purpose within a global context.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the many contributors whose insights were invaluable in shaping our strategic direction. This includes our student delegates, school executive committee, department managers, health service partners, consumer representatives, early and mid-career academics, as well as faculty, university and community leaders.

This collaborative effort has provided a clear roadmap that not only addresses the current challenges facing medicine and medical education, but also anticipates the future needs of our healthcare system.

It will require a collective effort to implement this strategy, but I believe that fostering collaboration across the School, Faculty and University will be key to our success, and I look forward to working with you all on this.

Head of the Melbourne Medical School
