Master of Cancer Sciences team receive international recognition

The Melbourne Medical School community is celebrating the international success of the Master of Cancer Sciences, which has recently received the 2026 AMEE ASPIRE Award for Social Accountability in Vienna.

Delivered by the Department of Clinical Pathology and Melbourne Professional Education, in partnership with VCCC Alliance, the program has been recognised for its innovative approach to postgraduate cancer education, addressing inequities in cancer care and strengthening capability across the Pacific Islands.

The program enables clinicians to gain advanced oncology training while remaining in their workplaces and communities, helping to strengthen local health systems and reduce barriers to specialist education.

Since its launch in 2019, the Master of Cancer Sciences has graduated more than 130 students, many of whom continue to serve their local communities, demonstrating the powerful role education can play in improving health outcomes across the region.
