Staff Profile: Lily Roberts

Lily Roberts is the Campus Life Coordinator in the Department of Rural Health, based in Wangaratta.

Since joining the University in 2021 as a Campus Life Officer in the Department’s Facilities and Services team, Lily has brought her initiative and strong commitment to creating a welcoming experience for students. She stepped into the Campus Life Coordinator role in 2022 and now leads a team that manages student applications for 29 rural accommodation properties across the Department of Rural Health portfolio.

This work supports students from the Melbourne Medical School, the School of Health Sciences and the Melbourne Dental School as they undertake rural placements at the Department’s main campuses in Ballarat, Echuca, Shepparton and Wangaratta, as well as in nearly 40 smaller towns across rural Victoria. More than 1,250 students use this accommodation each year.

Over her five years with the Department, Lily has made a significant contribution to enhancing the student experience. She has streamlined the application process through the redesign of the Rural Living Portal and developed and maintained student induction modules covering gender-based violence, diversity and community, community living, wellbeing – including mental health and nutrition – and sustainability.

Lily has also led the development of accommodation management processes for other rural University campuses, including Creswick, Dookie and Werribee. More recently, she worked closely with the Office of Indigenous Partnerships to develop the accommodation booking process for Northeast Arnhem Land.

Lily’s practical approach, care for students and ability to turn complex operational needs into clear, supportive processes make her a highly valued member of the Department.
