Teddy Bear Hospital raises more than $28,000 for the Good Friday Appeal

The 2026 Teddy Bear Hospital Chadstone Winter Check Up recently raised more than $28,000 for the Good Friday Appeal, supporting the Royal Children's Hospital. The Teddy Bear Hospital began in 2009 and is run by University of Melbourne students with the support of the University’s Department of Paediatrics.

Across two busy days, student volunteers from the Melbourne Medical School took on roles like as Teddy Doctors, helping young visitors care for their much-loved teddies, dolls and soft toys.

Since its launch, the Teddy Bear Hospital has provided children with positive healthcare experiences in a fun and welcoming environment. The program also gives medical and allied health students valuable opportunities to develop skills in communicating with children, building rapport, and explaining health concepts in age-appropriate ways. Congratulations to all the student volunteers whose enthusiasm and dedication helped make this year's event such a success.
