Department of Rural Health partners with Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project
The Department of Rural Health partnered with the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project (GSLP) to deliver 100 back to school bags for primary aged students as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen community engagement in the region.

The activity took place at the 2025 Department of Rural Health Staff Connect Day, designed to support children from families most in need with essential back to school supplies.
Established in 2014, the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project is a place-based collective impact initiative working to improve outcomes for young people in the region. They focus on building the capacity of young people and their contributions to the prosperity of Greater Shepparton.
As part of the community-focused session, representatives from GSLP presented on their impact in the region and assisted with the coordination of backpacks. Department of Rural Health staff packed bags with all the essential supplies and were encouraged to add a handwritten note with encouraging messages and well wishes.
The backpacks were distributed at the end of the year, with all 100 being donated to families for the year ahead.
This partnership highlights the impact achieved through collaborative, community-driven action, making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and families in Greater Shepparton.
