Research Symposium Hits the Mark

The Department of Medical Education (DME) held its first departmental research symposium in August on "Health professions' education: Research, scholarship and engagement".

The symposium was attended by more than 80 clinical educators and researchers from faculties including medical education, physiotherapy, audiology, optometry, nursing and other medical specialties.

The scholarship component of the symposium reflected the scholarship of teaching and there were many alumni from the DME's Excellence in Clinical Teaching (EXCITE) program in attendance.

The engagement component reflected collaboration with our hospital partners, and researchers at Deakin and Monash universities.

The program included six presentations covering assessment and feedback for learning, education in clinical settings, and preparing learners for professional practice.

The symposium program is available online.
