We are very pleased to announce Dr Caroline Johnson was recently awarded General Practitioner of the Year for Victoria by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

The RACGP Awards celebrate the important contribution GPs make to the health of patients and communities across Australia.

Dr Johnson is a Senior Lecturer within the Department of General Practice and was awarded for her significant contribution to medical education and work in mental health, where she has been a passionate advocate for general practice at federal and state policy levels.

Within the Department, Dr Johnson has held leadership positions in teaching and learning since 1999 and has made a significant contribution to the growth and maintenance of the primary care teaching network and the progression of the general practice curriculum.

The prize was presented at the RACGP Victoria Members Awards Night.

Dr Johnson is now in contention for the National RACGP Award, selected from the cohort of state winners, to be announced at the RACGP conference in October.
