New fields of research and socio-economic objective codes now available

New codes provide more flexibility in classifying research.

Following a review of the Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification, the Operations and Performance Group (RIC and Business Services) has successfully replaced all 2008 Fields of Research and Socio-Economic Objective codes in our master data systems with the new 2020 code equivalent.

We expect no action is expected from the majority of researchers. The new 2020 codes provide a lot more flexibility in classifying research.  At any time, researchers can review the codes in their Themis HR Researcher Profile, Themis Research and Elements and change the codes to a more specific classification.

In addition, the change also means the University is compliant with all external reporting requirements.  If staff are using the codes for any reporting purposes, the new codes will be imported from any master data systems you may be referencing.

To see all the new codes and step-by-step instructions on how to update research codes, please refer to the Research Gateway website and contact the Research Helpline if you require any further assistance.
