An exciting opportunity for Medical Students and Junior Doctors has been developed in North East Victoria, where local doctors have designed events to welcome new arrivals into the medical community. NEMEN – North East Medical Networking, is a chance for students and medical professionals to learn from local specialists, ask questions of senior clinicians and get to know the medical community in the region.

“Moving to a new area as a student or Junior Doctor can be intimidating,” explains Goulburn Valley (GV) Regional Training Hub Manager, Keryn Bolte. “You may be unsure of what specialities are available to refer to in the region, or you may have questions about your career goals and working as a clinician regionally. These events allow genuine networking and informal mentoring to occur in a relaxed environment.”

The GV Regional Training Hub is proud to sponsor the NEMEN series and sees it as a great opportunity to showcase the fantastic talent of regional medical professionals. The events include an education component, with speakers ranging from world leading-specialists in areas such as Concussion and Neurosurgery, to a case presentation on Palliative Care that include a multidisciplinary panel discussion.

Recently the events have been predominately focussed on the Wangaratta and Yarrawonga regions, however plans are in place to expand these into the Shepparton and Echuca regions in 2022 via a network of enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced doctors who are keen to support the development of physicians who are interested in building careers in regional locations.

Further information on upcoming NEMEN events can be found on the Goulburn Valley Regional Training Hub website.
